The REITA Technology Development Process

  • Rare Earth Technology Consortium members are governed by the membership agreement executed with REITA. The membership agreement defines benefits, mode of operation, structure, role of REITA’s executive agent and the Consortium’s executive council, etc.  (see downloadable Membership Agreement on Membership Page).
  • As Project ideas are introduced to the Consortium, interested members “self assemble” into individual Project Teams and execute the requisite technical and commercial agreements amongst themselves in order to create a Project Team.
  • When appropriate, REITA will partner with outside funding entities including the US Department of Defense in particular, on behalf of the Project Teams.
    • Whether or not a non-USA company or institution is allowed to participate in a specific DoD funded program will depend on the nature / sensitivity of the program and the member’s eligibility under the US Arms Export Control Act (22 U.S.C. 2778), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), etc.
  • REITA executes contracts with the US government  on behalf of the Consortium members.
  • REITA distributes payments from the US government  to the Project Team members upon  completion of individual milestones in the contract executed between REITA and the US government.
